3. Art and Diplomacy Actors of Cultural Affairs and their Archival Sources in Berlin and Paris, Call for Papers, Germany/France

Three-part research workshop to “examine the complex transnational links between embassies and foreign offices between 1870 and 1989, and to question the complex nature” of two archives. Aimed at young researchers on topics addressing cultural diplomacy, exhibitions, art market, diplomacy, methodology, and a number of other themes.

6. Blood Antiquities: Tomb Raiders, Art Smugglers, and the Black Market in Cultural Treasures, Lecture, Online

The Archaeological Institute of America’s evening lecture series will continue with a lecture from Tess Davis, Executive Director of the Antiquities Coalition. The lecture will discuss threats to heritage, destruction, and how “governments, law enforcement, and regular citizens are combating this cultural racketeering crisis.”

7. Call for Papers: Post-Conflict Reconstruction of Cultural Heritage in MENA, CFP

9. Collections and Impermanence: Transfer, Exchange and Disposal, Workshop, London and Online (Hybrid)

11. Die Geschichte(n) hinter den Werken, Exhibition, Berlin

This exhibition at the Akademie der Künste will illustrate and discuss provenance research methods, in addition to the “repercussions of the research results” and the “complexity of the decision-making process.” Focuses primarily on the ownership history of Nazi-looted art within the Academy’s collection, and “the search for the collections of the Prussian Academy of Arts.”
