US/Honduras cultural property agreement renewed and extended

Post

The United States have renewed import restrictions on cultural objects originating in Honduras for another 5 years. These restrictions are, of course, in the form of a bilateral agreement (a Memorandum of Understanding or MoU) based on the US implementation of the 1970 UNESCO Convention.

Of particular interest: “ecclesiastical ethnological materials” have been added to the list of prohibited imports. Latin American church looting is a major issue and it is good to see that both the US and Honduras take it seriously.
